His passion
for the sea and his fondness of our region are sources of inspriration and
bliss.
After his studies at the Maritime Apprentice of l'Aber-Wrach and the Hydrography
School of St. Malo, he navigated up until 1977, when he decided to change
his horizons towards a career as an artist painter.
At this time, he achieves a number of decorative stage props for :
- The
International Salon of Haute Couture
-
The Rally of Pharaons
- Jean
Michel Jarre's Concert in London
-
The Zygofolie Amusement Park in Nice...
He then
travels to the United States where he exports his concept of mural frescos
to San Francisco and Baltimore.
Yet the oceanspray and hues of our jagged coastline call him back to the
old world where he devotes himself to representational painting.
On several occasions his paintings are award winning. He then opens his art gallery in his native Pouliguen. He exposes in Nantes at the Salon of Modern Art, in Andorra, at the Salon of Contemporary Art in Paris-Bastille and in the U.S.
Today,
Jean-Louis Gravier's gift and passion for painting and his attachment to
the littoral is largely recognized.
Jean-Louis and his creations cannot leave art admirers insensitive to the moments of pleasure that a painting can bring.
